It might sound a bit of a cliche, but this is the truth - we only live once, and we must enjoy our lives to the fullest - with a bit of moderation, of course, and that's where things complicate. Because in this hectic world, balance is the most troublesome to obtain.

Moderation? Nah, I don't want to live like that, you'll say. But things are actually much more uncomplicated than they seem to be. Not convinced yet? Just hear me out :)

The beginnings

I had a very happy childhood, with lots of food. Literally, lots of food, and this complicated my existence in my early teen years. Without even realizing it, I started to put more accent on quantity rather than on quality, and food has become a reason to stress for, not something to enjoy.

Years passed on, I had unsuccessfully tried all the diets I could find at the moment, I was confused and couldn't accept eating grass for my entire existence just to fit a pair of small jeans or a tiny dress. Not to mention all my health issues, that worsen with the years.

A few years ago, a friend of mine challenged me to try to reduce carbohydrates from my menu for a month, guaranteeing that I can have that lifestyle I really enjoyed - meat, eggs, butter, a few greens, and some cheese, be healthy and feel great in my own skin. Honestly, I doubted that. Also, I cannot lie that I wasn't a bit scared of everything I read about this lifestyle, but I said "Hey, what could possibly go wrong now?". I was already tired of all the fad diets, measuring foods and all that. Also, knowing that he wasn't pushing me to take any meds, pills or something related, only food from my fridge, I decided it was worth the try.

Exactly one month later, he called me. It was the moment I started to talk about how I feel, how many kilograms I have already lost, and about the insane amount of energy I have every day, from the moment I wake up.

That was the day when everything changed for me.

I was eating everything I loved - omelets, salads, salmon, pork, butter, asparagus, avocados, boiled eggs moreover occasionally enjoying my delightful glass of red dry wine.

So yes, in the end, I found out that it's not as hard as we make it to be.
